Frequently asked questions

Where are classes held?

All our lessons are held at our Studio in Five Dock. Our street address is 1/142 Great North Road, Five Dock NSW 2046.

When can I start classes?

You can join us at anytime for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced classes. For Beginners, the first week of every month is Week 1, and this is the best time to join, however, if you missed the first week, come along and join the fun anyway, we'll bring you up to speed in no time.

What should I wear to class?

Comfort is key! We normally suggest comfortable clothing and shoes without too much grip but will stay on while you dance. We move around a fair bit during class, so comfortable clothing such as trousers, jeans, skirts with leggings etc. Allowing for a wide range of motion is a great idea.

Is dance experience required?

Nope! Our Beginners classes teach you the basic step from scratch, and as time progresses you will move into our Intermediate and Advanced classes. Everyone learns at their own pace, and we are always happy to chat with you to ensure you attend the class best suited for you.

I've danced other styles before, do I still need to do beginners?

Yes! We love your passion for dance and this is why we want to equip you with the best tools for long term Swing Dancing and Rock n Roll happiness! Beginners provides a strong foundation for this unique style, and sets you up for Intermediate and Advanced sessions! Everyone learns at their own pace, but if you are picking the Beginners up very quickly, you will be ready for intermediate and advanced sessions in no time at all.

Do I need to book?

Not at all! You can join us at any time. no registrations required. We do on host Workshops where we will request registrations to ensure an even lead to follow ratio, however we will display this information anytime it is required.

Do I need to do the entire beginners course?

You can do as many classes as you would love to do. Not everyone can make it every week, and we understand. It is also best to attempt the entire course for best results, but you can simply jump into the next cycle if you've missed anything!

What can I expect from a beginners class?

Our Beginners classes are designed to teach you the basics of the dance as quickly as possible. We always suggest our students maintain doing Beginners, even after they become Intermediate students, to ensure the best skills are reinforced.

What can I expect from an Intermediate class?

Our Intermediate sessions will introduce new movements, concepts and techniques continuing from Beginners. These classes are designed to expand your dance vocabulary while touching on more deeper concepts and techniques.
As a bonus Beginners is FREE for Intermediate students; perfect for sharpening those basics and reinforcing great technique.

What can I expect from an advanced class?

Taking it a step further from intermediate, an Advanced Class places greater emphasis on technique, timing and movements with higher degree of difficulty and complexity.

Some skills we will develop over time include:
- Connection to your partner and to the music
- Elements of a great lead, and a brilliant follow
- Balance, frame and posture
- Timing and rhythms
- Spins and Turns + associated techniques
- Fast Dancing Techniques
- Slow Dancing Techniques
- Lots more!

What can I expect from a private lesson?

Our private lessons are a perfectly customised experience for dancers wanting to improve their dancing. You will be working with an instructor. Typically, the Instructor will speak with you about your dance goals or if there is anything you would like to work on, then proceed to work on those goals. Each lesson will focus on what you, as a dancer, need to achieve to take those next dancing steps.
